Egg Bowl helps confirm Johnson's decision
While a senior at Philadelphia High School last year, Josh Boyd knew he was someone the underclassmen looked up to.
Little did he know, the sophomore lining up beside him was probably his biggest fan. C.J. Johnson ended his recruitment early and follow him to Mississippi State in 2011.
"I talk to him a lot and knew he was going to be a pretty big recruit with how much better he's gotten over the years," Boyd said. "I talked to him and told him how college was but he (committed) on his own. He just liked it when he kept coming to the games. It's going to be pretty exciting to have him here in a couple of years. He played right beside me on the d-line before they moved him so it's going to be exciting."
But Johnson has kept his admiration for Boyd under wraps but admitted that he wanted to be a Bulldog just like him.
