Missouri tight end to visit Ole Miss
One position that Ole Miss is making a big push for is tight ends. Leading the way recruiting some of the top prospects in the country is Rebel tight end coach Hugh Freeze.
The Rebels aren't limiting their sights to local and area prospects; one national prospect that has scheduled a visit to Oxford is St. Louis (MO) Hazelwood Central's Chris Owens.
Owens, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound athlete that runs a 4.58 forty recently received his first offer from the Rebels, one that has the talented athlete very excited.
"Ole Miss is my first offer," Owens said Sunday. "I know that Ole Miss is a school with great tradition, a football program on the rise and I can't wait to take an official visit there in December and check it out first hand."
Owens is currently being recruited by Ole Miss, Iowa, Louisville, Missouri, Minnesota and Michigan State.
"The SEC is a great conference," Owens said. "Coach Freeze is doing a great job of recruiting me, makes me feel that I'm important to their program."
Owens has caught 15 receptions this fall for 325 yards and four touchdowns.
"I'm looking for a school that has a good overall program, good coaches and a place I can call home," Owens said. "I'm looking forward to my visit to Ole Miss."
Owens recently retook the ACT, but scored a 17 during his junior year of high school. He currently has a 2.8 G.P.A.
