Panthers get set for Hoyas

Panther-lair.com When the 2006-07 Big East men's basketball schedule was released, many eyes around the conference (and probably the nation) went directly to January 12th, when Georgetown (preseason #8) traveled to Pittsburgh (preseason #4) for a primetime, ESPN-laden showdown. Tonight, that game takes place, and while both teams have dipped a bit from their preseason rankings, the contest figures to be a real test all around.
Pitt, 15-2 overall, 3-0 in the Big East, ranked #7 and carrying a five-game winning streak, is coming off a conference win at DePaul on Wednesday. Georgetown, on the other hand, has been out of the top 25 for six weeks running, has an 11-4 overall record, 1-1 in the Big East, and is coming off a home loss to Villanova on Monday.
