Williams felt at home at UCF

Darnell Williams wasn't supposed to be at Winter Park High School, but things just worked out that way after Hurricane Katrina forced his family to relocate to the Orlando area in the aftermath of the devastating storm. A native of Gulfport, Miss., Williams found a new home with the Wildcats football team and the community embraced him as one of their own. As one of the area's top recruits, Williams thought about returning to his home state to play for Ole Miss, but a weekend visit to hometown UCF made him reconsider that initial decision.

Williams said the visit couldn't have been better. Williams said it was the comfort level with the players and coaches that made him switch his commitment from Ole Miss to UCF.
