For whom the Bell tolls
Junior running back Kahlil Bell has had an outstanding spring. He is running angry, with power and a purpose. Bell has been given more reps than expected due to injuries at the position this spring and he has made the most of his opportunities.
In a way, Bell epitomizes the hunger that the Bruins have been displaying this spring.
The Bruins still have a long way to go, but this has been one of the better springs in recent history.
BruinBlitz.com recently caught up with Bell after practice.
BruinBliz.com: You are getting a lot of work in. How does it feel to get back with the guys and competing?
Bell: "It's great, anytime you get the pads on it's always great. I'm getting a lot of reps this spring because of injuries, unfortunately that had to happen, but I'm just trying to take advantage of opportunities that are in front of me and continue to show the new coaching staff, our new offensive coordinator, our new offensive line coach that I can play and just try to compete and help our team be the best that we can be."
BruinBliz.com: What do you think of coach Jay Norvell?
Bell: "He's a great coach. He really knows what he's talking about. He's instilling a new kind of fire and passion among us.
"Our defense has kind of made a reputation for themselves last fall of being very physical, fast, swarming and aggressive and that's how we as an offense want to be.
"We (the offense) don't want to play passive. We want to be aggressive. We want to play physical. We want to take our offense to the next level and I think Coach Norvell and his system is going to help us do that."
