Bulldogs sign five-star standout Sidney
Many thought Mississippi State completed its 2009 signing class last week with the addition of three-star power forward Wendell Lewis.
But when the opportunity presented itself to ink five-star McDonalds All-American Renardo Sidney, the Bulldogs jumped on it.
MSU spokesman Gregg Ellis confirmed that the university had received Sidney's letter of intent late Thursday afternoon.
Rumors began swirling this past weekend when the then USC commitment took an official and unexpected visit to MSU's Starkville campus in his native Mississippi.
The 6-foot-10, 250-pounder from Los Angeles originally announced his commitment to USC in a February 22 press conference. But earlier this week there were reports that Sidney and the Trojans have since parted ways opening up the door for him to become a Bulldog which happened today.
Sidney averaged 23.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game as a senior leading Fairfax to a 25-5 overall record.
