December 11, 2007Rivals.com Power Rankings by Position: PG | SG | SF | PF | C | Head Coach
We're only five weeks into the season, but the top spot among small forwards in Rivals.com's power rankings already has changed hands three times.
Michigan State's Raymar Morgan rose to the top of the position this week. Few players have been more consistent than Morgan, who has scored in double figures in all nine games for the 8-1 Spartans. Last week, he scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Spartans' 66-61 win at Bradley, then scored 17 points and pulled down six boards (all on the offensive end) to lead the Spartans to a 68-61 victory over BYU in Salt Lake City.
Morgan may be joined near the top soon by Syracuse freshman Donte Greene, who made one of the biggest jumps this week, going from No. 10 to No. 5 at small forward. Greene also has been consistently productive, scoring in double figures in eight of nine games, including a 20-point, 10-rebound performance in the Orange's 70-68 victory at Virginia last week.
Vanderbilt's Shan Foster is eyeing the No. 1 spot among shooting guards. Foster moved to No. 2 after scoring 47 points in victories over Wake Forest (83-80) and Lipscomb (90-67). Foster leads the SEC in scoring at 20.4 points per game for Vanderbilt, which is 9-0 and has climbed into the top 25.
The rating of a player and coach can fluctuate each week during the season depending on how they fared the previous week, but the power rankings measure overall career performances as well as their most recent results.
By the end of the season, our power rankings should provide an accurate indicator of which players and coaches were the best at their respective positions
