Ole Miss Preview
Anytime Mississippi State and Ole Miss in any sport there is always at least state bragging rights on the line.
But when the two teams meet at 4 p.m. on the hardwood in Oxford there will be much more at stake. Both teams are vying for the No. 3 seed from the Western Division in the upcoming SEC Tournament.
The Rebels took the first game this season 67-63, their first win in Starkville in a decade. Today, MSU will be going for their first victory in Tad Smith Coliseum since 2005.
The Bulldogs hold a 133-105 lead in the series and Rick Stansbury is 15-7 against Ole Miss during his tenure as head coach. He will be coaching in his 354th career game today tying him with Richard Williams for the most in school history.
State is 8-7 in conference play and are 18-12 overall this season. The Bulldogs are averaging 74.8 points a game and shooting 43.6-percent. They also hit 36.8-percent of their shots from the outside as well as 70.6-percent from the free throw line. Mississippi State leads the league in blocked shots averaging 7.7 a game and are surrendering 69.4 points to their opponents.
