Overstreet waiting for the fall
Tatum (Texas) athlete Jalen Overstreet has put his recruiting on the backburner this summer, but he's getting ready to turn his attention that way once again when the fall rolls around.
"I haven't really been around the school so I haven't been able to check up on what kind of mail I've been getting lately. I don't really know who has been sending the most stuff or anything," Overstreet said. "I haven't focused a lot on my recruiting this summer and I'm probably going to wait until the fall when I can start taking some official visits."
At this point Texas Tech looks to be in good position to be one of those receiving an official visit from the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder.
"I think I want to visit Baylor, Arkansas, Tech, Michigan, and probably Alabama," he said. "I talk to the coaches at Tech pretty often still. I talk with Coach Neal Brown and Coach Sam McElroy the most, I'd say. I like them a lot. I've got no problems with the their coaching style or anything like that. From what I
know, they seem like they're really good people too. So, I'll be looking forward to visiting their program."
Overstreet has been offered as a few different things by different programs, but he's decided that he wants to end up at a place that will give him a chance to play quarterback.
"Tech was the first to offer me as a quarterback and I've decided that I'm going to go somewhere that gives me a chance to play that position," he said. "I just want an opportunity to make an impact wherever I can, but I'd like to go with somebody who is going to give me a shot at quarterback first."
As the fall approaches, Overstreet is still wide open to all of his options.
"Right now there isn't really anyone that's standing out. I'm waiting until I have an opportunity to get out and see some schools," he said. "I'll start narrowing down my options after that. Right now I'm just trying to prepare for my season. I don't have a time period for a decision. I think I'll know for sure where I want to be after I take the visits I want to take."
