Long Beach (Miss.) linebacker Richie Brown is the perfect example of a 2012 player whose arrow is pointing upward.
The four star defender was named "best tackler" at the Mississippi vs. Alabama All Star classic last weekend, and justifiably so.
Brown finished the game with a dozen tackles with three of those coming for a loss, and that performances opened plenty of eyes.
The star linebacker is also starting to capture the attention of some of the biggest programs in the SEC.
"Georgia offered the other day, and so did Tennessee," he said. "I also have offers from LSU, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State."
Since Brown's recruitment is starting to heat up, many are wondering who holds the early edge.
But, unlike most prospects, Brown didn't have a favorite college team growing up.
"I've never had a favorite college team," he said. "I am a huge New Orleans Saints fan, so I watch them a lot, but I've never followed a college team. I just watch the Saints all the time."
Several schools have taken their time entering the mix for the Magnolia State linebacker, but that doesn't mean that Brown will see them any differently.
"It doesn't really bother me that a school has just offered," said Brown. "Maybe if they offered next week, it would be different because I'm starting to figure things out really, but the schools that have offered me recently are still in it."
Most prospects are finished or at least taking official visits at this point in the process, but Brown is still trying to figure out what schools he will go see.
"I know I'll take four or five visits. I know that much," said Brown. "I have two set up to Mississippi State and Ole Miss, but I'm trying to figure out where to take the rest of them. "
One of Brown's most recent offers, UGA, definitely has his attention.
"Both linebacker coaches (Todd Grantham and Kirk Olivadotti) called and told me that they had been focused on the guys in the state of Georgia," he said. "They told me that I was the first guy they were calling that was out of the state. I know a little about Georgia and they are a good program. I'm going to have to learn more about them, you know.
Everything, it seems, is up in the air for the Mississippi native. Including an announcement date.
"I don't know when I'll decide really," he said. "Maybe close to signing day or after. I just don't know."
