Rivals100 target takes in VT junior day

Virginia Tech had plenty of big visitors on Saturday for junior day. One of those heading out for his first trip to Blacksburg since fall was Rivals100 athlete Holland Fisher. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder broke down his trip to Tech.

"I got there this morning," he said. "Once I arrived, I met up with Shane (Beamer) and he took me to the coaches lounge. Then, I met with a couple of my former teammates, which was pretty cool. My family and me also wanted to meet Coach Frank Beamer, so we went to see him with my little brother.

"After that, we went around and took a tour of the campus. Then, we came back and went to the facilities and saw everything inside the stadium. We also did an academic tour and then headed to the basketball game."

It was a busy day and for Fisher, he had been to Tech before. So, what was different?

"The first time going there was nice, this was a good one too," he said. "This time I got to meet a couple of the players. I talked to Antone Exum and Kyle Fuller. They were cool."

It sounds like Tech wants you to be a safety, is that right?

"Yes, they want me as a safety," he said. "I got some time with Coach Gray and it was good."

Meanwhile, Fisher got plenty of time with his recruiter too.

"I feel that Coach Shane Beamer and I have a very close relationship," he said. "We talk a lot and he comes to my school often. I like Coach Shane a lot. I like the whole coaching staff at Virginia Tech though."

Regarding his time with Frank Beamer, this was Fisher's second time to really sit down with him.

"Knowing he is one of the winningest coaches in all of NCAA, that's good," he said. "It's good to actually meet him again and talk to him again especially for my parents.

"They (My parents) liked him and Tech a lot, especially after seeing it."

Overall it was a good trip.

"It was overall nice, a great visit and nice getting back up there again."

It sounds like Tech is high on the list.

"I wouldn't say they are a favorite, but they are high on my list," he said. "I grew up as a Virginia Tech fan and I've always loved Virginia Tech. Also, they have a lot of my former teammates there. It's nice to see them."

Fisher confirmed he plans to head to Virginia's junior day next Saturday and that is the last trip scheduled at the moment.

In the meantime, one new offer came in recently for the Richmond prospect.

"I I just got offered by Illinois and I'm up to nine offers," he said. "I actually found out about it recently and I haven't even spoken to their coaches yet."
