Derrick Green takes in NC State

As an member of the first Rivals 100 for the Class of 2013, Richmond (Va.) Hermitage running back Derrick Green is already a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. The 6-foot, 215-pounder with blazing speed already has racked up more than 20 offers and is starting to get out on unofficial visits, so he's taking a close look at college campuses across the nation.

The four-star prospect tripped to NC State over the weekend on a swing through some colleges in the Carolinas. He got to see some things in Raleigh he hasn't seen yet at rival programs and talk with the Wolfpack coaches.

"I really enjoyed myself," he said. "The whole coaching staff is very good. The facility is beautiful. They have a great facility from the locker room to the weight room, it was all very nice. It ranked up there because I've seen a lot of things they had that other schools haven't had, so that's a plus.

"I toured the facility, toured the weight room and I got to speak with the running backs coach, the head coach and Coach [Keith] Willis. My favorite part would be when I spoke to the coaches."

Willis is leading the charge for the player ranked as the No. 64 rising-senior in the land and the Pack's defensive line coach has made his impression.

"He's a real cool guy and down-to-earth," Green noted. "I can trust him because he's up front and he keeps it one hundred with you."

Green admitted to growing up as an Ohio State fan and the Buckeyes have offered, but this recruitment is far from over.

"I don't have any favorites in mind, everyone's equal," he said.

When asked if he could see himself making a return to Raleigh in the fall for an official visit, Green said, "yes, sir, definitely."

The playmaker is claiming no favorites at this point and listed a quartet of programs as the ones recruiting him the hardest: Ohio State, Oklahoma, NC State and Clemson.

Green said that he thinks his next visits will be to Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
