The War Room part two: athletes

Deacons Illustrated will breakdown the top targets listed as athletes Wake Forest is pursuing in part two of The War Room after addressing the offensive prospects the Demon Deacons are recruiting.

--- Johnathan Alston, Bunn (NC), Wide Receiver or Outside Linebacker, 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. Rivals.com rates Alston as a three-star recruit.

He claims seven scholarship offers from FBS programs. Georgia, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest are also showing interest in Alston.

Last season Alston caught 27 passes for 523 yards and seven touchdowns, rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns and 67 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and six sacks.

--- Zach Bradshaw, Damascus (Md.), Wide Receiver or Defensive Back, 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds. Rivals.com rates Bradshaw as a three-star recruit

He claims 15 scholarship offers from FBS programs, including one from Wake Forest and is also receiving interest from other programs.

Jonathan Himebauch is recruiting Bradshaw for the Demon Deacons.

--- John Brown, Durham (NC) Jordan, Running Back or Cornerback, 5-foot-11 and 187 pounds.

Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, NC State, North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest are showing interest in Brown.

Derrick Jackson is recruiting Brown for the Demon Deacons.

Brown on Wake Forest in a prior interview with Deacons Illustrated: "I got to learn a lot more about the academic side of Wake Forest [at its Junior Day Saturday, Feb. 25]. I learned that the classes aren't very big, and the professors are not more one-on-one, but a little more personal than it would be at a big school. That would be one of my reasons of picking a college."

"I think they [his parents] liked the visit a lot. They also liked the academic side of it, and how they told us Wake Forest was like an Ivy League school playing against BCS colleges."

He rushed for 860 yards last season.

--- Bra'Lon Cherry, New Bern (NC), Running Back or Wide Receiver.

He is receiving interest from North Carolina and Wake Forest.

--- Marcus Davis, Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage School, Cornerback or Wide Receiver, 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds. Rivals.com rates Davis as a three-star recruit.

He claims nine scholarship offers from FBS programs, including one from Wake Forest and is receiving interest from other schools.

--- Joseph Downey, Roxboro (NC) Person, Wider Receiver or Running Back or Defensive Back, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds.

He has received interest from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Michigan, NC State, UCLA, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Derrick Jackson is recruiting Downey for the Demon Deacons.

Downey accumulated 1,000 yards of total offense and scored 12 touchdowns last season.

--- Delando Johnson, Towson (Md.) Calvert Hall, Free or Strong Safety or Wide Receiver, 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds. Rivals.com rates Johnson as a three-star recruit and as the nation's No. 38 athlete.

He claims scholarship offers from East Carolina, Illinois, Toledo and Wake Forest, and is receiving interest from many other schools.

Johnson on Wake Forest in a prior interview with MDHigh.com: "I was really happy to get this offer because Wake is obviously a great school. I'm going to be looking at them because they were one of the first BCS schools besides Illinois to take a chance on me."

He recorded 62 tackles, 11 sacks and five pass breakups, and caught three touchdown passes last season.
