It's recruiting crunch time across the nation and one of Kentucky's highly-touted prospects is still weighing his options as the final round of official visits takes place this weekend.
Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) all-purpose back Dalyn Dawkins was one of many recruits that visited the campus of Western Kentucky this past weekend.
The Rivals.com three-star prospect gave Western Kentucky a solid review, "I liked it there, the facilities were real nice, a lot nicer than what I expected and I liked the coaching staff a lot."
He had an offer on the table from former head coach Willie Taggart and the previous coaching staff, but interest in WKU really picked up when Bobby Petrino was named the Hilltoppers new head coach in December.
Dawkins lists his three finalists as Colorado State, Western Kentucky, and Purdue. He is also being recruited by Illinois, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Miami (Fla.).
It's going to be a tough decision between those three schools, who are offering Dawkins the one thing he is looking for when he takes his talents to the next level.
"I'm looking for a school that will give me an opportunity to play as a freshman and all three of those schools, WKU, Purdue, and Colorado State are going to give me a chance to play early, so that makes the decision harder. It's just going to come down to which place I like best."
With visits to Colorado State and Western Kentucky in his rear-view mirror, Dawkins now turns his attention to Purdue on the final weekend before signing day.
But, don't expect Dawkins to wait until February 6th to make his commitment, he might make an announcement a few days prior.
The 5-foot-9, 180 pounder rushed for nearly 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns while piling up over 500 receiving yards and six scores.
No wonder so many teams are lining up in an attempt to add Dawkins to their respective rosters.
