The 2009-10 championship season for winter sports is nearing an end with California clinching the men's hoop title while Stanford did the same in women's hoop.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, a pair of Pac-10 women's hoop head coaches - Stanford's Tara VanDerVeer and Wazzu's June Daugherty are part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association ethics committee that will monitor ethical practices in the women's game.





California

In men's hoop, senior forward Jamal Boykin was named as the conference's player of the week.



WSU

In administration, Wazzu named Bill Moos as athletic director.

In men's hoop, the Cougars lost to rival Washington to fall to 16-12 overall and 6-10 in conference play with a 139 RPI.

In women's hoop, the Cougars lost to rival Washington to move to 7-20 overall and 2-14 in conference play with a 161 RPI.

In baseball, Wazzu swept Bethune-Cookman and Texas Tech to open the 2010 season undefeated at 6-0 overall. Sophomore outfielder Derek Jones was named as the conference's player of the week.



Stanford

In women's swimming, the Cardinal won the Pac-10 championship.



Arizona

In softball, Wildcats' pitching recruit Nadia Matthews died last week in what the coroner determined as a suicide.



Oregon

In women's hoop, the Ducks were swept by UCLA and USC to drop to 16-12 overall and 7-9 in conference play.



UCLA

In women's hoop, sophomore forward Jasmine Dixon was named as the conference's player of the week.



Arizona State

In administration, newly released documents provide more details about the firing of former baseball head coach Pat Murphy.



Oregon State

In men's hoop, head coach Craig Robinson agreed in principle to a two-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season.



Washington

In women's tennis, Washington defeated Long Beach State to improve to 8-1 overall on the year.



USC

In baseball, the Trojans lost to Vanderbilt and rival UCLA to fall to 3-4 overall on the year.
