Still is making the rounds

Memphis (Tenn.) University School junior Ben Still has been spending numerous hours on the road of late and doesn't plan to slow down any time soon. The 6-foot-3 and 295-pound offensive lineman visited a trio of SEC programs over the last three weeks.

"Last week I went to Mississippi State, Ole Miss and then I went to LSU over the weekend," said Still. "Then I am going to visit Arkansas next weekend and then also go visit Illinois.

"It has been very nice and I am just enjoying all the trips and taking it all in. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it has been a lot of fun."

Still has currently picked up offers from Ole Miss, Memphis, Tulane and Western Kentucky. He also noted a pair of SEC schools could join that list in the near future.

"Mississippi State and Arkansas are probably the main two schools showing me the most interest as far as ones that haven't offered," said Still. "Schools are recruiting me basically anywhere on the interior line. Some say center and some say guard, just depending on what they need me to play."

Having visited both of the Magnolia State SEC programs, Still talked about what he took away from those unofficial visits.

"I liked it at Mississippi State and it was good for me to catch one of their practices," said Still, who has also attended junior days at MSU and Ole Miss. "I like how they conduct practice and how hard they practice. I like Coach (John) Hevesy's intensity that he shows coaching their offensive line. That was the thing that stood out to me the most.

"I've been to Ole Miss a lot. It was one of those visits where I wanted to see their coaches again and talk to them some more. I have already seen most of what they have to show on junior day so I wanted to go and see them scrimmage."

In the early stages, Still noted one school is sticking out concerning those that have offered.

"Probably my top team would be Ole Miss," said Still. "I like it up there and it is pretty nice. If Mississippi State offers, they would be up there, too, and then it would be a tough decision between those two schools."

For now, Still added he was in no hurry to make his collegiate decision.

"If it all works out as planned, I want to commit after my senior season," said Still. "But if I feel the timing is right and I know what I want to do, then I will make my decision. But if I have trouble making a decision then I will wait until after the season."
