English high on Eagles

Jack English is hearing more from Virginia and North Carolina but Boston College was one of the first schools involved with the 2013 defensive end from Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's and he respects it.

English, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect, has already visited with the Eagles and said the way they finished their season is definitely a positive sign moving forward.

"They're definitely still showing a lot of interest," English said.

"It was really good up there. It was good to see how the programs worked and everything and meet with the coaches. I learned a lot of stuff and it was a good visit."

After starting the season 2-7, Boston College defeated NC State, lost to Notre Dame by only two points and beat Miami, 24-17, to finish the 2011 campaign.

"That was definitely encouraging," English said. "From the last time we talked, I'm not really thinking about how schools are performing right now but it will probably play some factor when I decide."

Coaches from Virginia and North Carolina stopped by English's school recently and the junior standout said he's planning to have a busy off-season.

Whether it's taking some unofficial visits or going to camps and combines, English said he's looking to get as much exposure as possible heading into his senior season.

"It's great," English said. "I've been working on a lot of stuff and things are going really well right now.

"I'll probably be taking a visit this winter to some schools and then come February I'll be going to the combines and stuff like that. I'll basically be working hard all off-season going out to camps."

English has mainly been talking to Boston College assistant coach Mike Siravo throughout his recruitment. He attended the BC-Florida State game earlier this season in Chestnut Hill.
