First Coast pipeline continues with Lyons
First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.) safety Tyrell Lyons knew in his heart where he wanted to be when FSU offered last week. On Saturday at the FSU's junior day, he made it official by giving the FSU staff some good news.
"I committed to Florida State (Saturday). The atmosphere and comfort was the biggest things that helped me make my decision," said Lyons. "I actually didn't plan on committing when coming over for this junior day, but I just felt so at home with FSU. I feel I fit very well into this defense. The atmosphere here at FSU blew me away."
Lyons can play a number of positions, but where does FSU like him at once he eventually arrives at Florida State next year?
"FSU feels with my body structure I can play Sam, Will (linebacker), or even strong safety because of the weight I can gain by the time I arrive here," he said. "I don't have a preference I just want to be here at Florida State. I feel at safety I can bring a lot of hitting, and then at linebacker I'm good with coverage."
There were many highlights of the visit, but what were some of the biggest ones that stood out?
"I got a chance to see the stadium, facilities and campus. Everything just went very well and this is the place I want to be," said Lyons.
Lyons continues a Florida State pipeline from First Coast High. He joins close friend and teammate Reggie Northrup, who is a signee from the 2012 class. Lyons talks about keeping that pipeline going and how hard he will be working on Florida commitment Daniel McMillian?
"Yes sir we are keeping it going with the First Coast guys. I know Reggie is going to be very excited on Monday when I talk with about this commitment," Lyons said. "I have so many players I know here at FSU so it's going to be a really fun ride. I'm going to try working on Daniel McMillian now and I already called him up to tell him about the FSU commitment."
