Rebels picked fourth in SEC West

Ole Miss was picked to finish fourth in the Southeastern Conference's Western Division Thursday in a vote of 243 media members at the SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala.

The Rebels were predicted to finish behind two-time defending national champion Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU and in front of Auburn, Mississippi State and Arkansas in the loaded SEC West.

Georgia edged South Carolina for the top spot in the predicted order of finish in the SEC East. The media picked Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky to round out the SEC East.

Alabama was the overwhelming pick to win yet another SEC title. The Crimson Tide received 182 votes to win the league. Georgia was the pick of 38 media members, while South Carolina (18), Texas A&M (4) and LSU (1) also received votes.

Linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche was the only Ole Miss player selected to the first-team All-SEC team. Wide receiver Donte Moncrief was a second-team selection, while running back Jeff Scott, defensive end C.J. Johnson and defensive back Charles Sawyer earned third-team honors.

Ole Miss opens the season on Aug. 29 at Vanderbilt. Fall camp is tentatively scheduled to begin on Aug. 1. The Rebels were 7-6 last season, defeating Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham, Ala.
