Pick up where they left off in the post
1

Demarco Cox's 15-point effort against Mississippi Valley put a smile on Andy Kennedy's face. Cox looked more comfortable with the basketball than he has in two season, working the pick and roll with Marshall Henderson on a couple of occasions and getting easy looks at the basket. The Rebels desperately need Cox and Aaron Jones to contribute offensively, and Cox's effort Friday could be a huge step in that direction.
More progress for Saiz
2

The freshman from Spain had seven points and 10 rebounds in 15 minutes against Mississippi Valley. Those are the productive minutes the Rebels are hoping for from the agile Saiz. If he can consistently give Ole Miss that type of production in combination with Cox, Jones and some doses of Anthony Perez at power forward, the Rebels should be able to compete with some of the opponents coming up on the schedule, starting Friday against Georgia Tech in Brooklyn.
Let Marshall be Marshall
3

It sounds crazy, sure, but Henderson was almost timid at times Friday against Mississippi Valley. Some of that likely had to do with slamming his hand in a chair an hour before tipoff, but some of it might be a product of Henderson trying too hard to tone done his on-court antics. The Rebels face Georgia Tech, St. John's or Penn State, Kansas State and Oregon in the next two weeks. Needless to say, Ole Miss needs Henderson to be aggressive and light up the scoreboard to win those games.

North Carolina A&T coach Cy Alexander on his team's effort against Georgia Tech last Saturday:

"We have to take the positives from this game and move on. The guys put up a great effort and we have to use each game as a building block so that we can improve."
Center Demarco Cox on the importance of low-post scoring for Ole Miss' big-picture success:

"When me and Aaron are scoring, we kind of make the team feel a lot better because we've got good guards. I think when the bigs score, it makes it extra hard for teams to defend us."

Ole Miss 81-66
