Rudolph chooses Florida State

MORE: Complete UA All-America Game coverage

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- First it was Dalvin Cook, then Lorenzo Featherston. And Florida State's roll of commitments from Thursday's Under Armour All-America Game continued as wide receiver Travis Rudolph joined the group with his pledge to the Seminoles.

"When I first landed on campus, I felt like that was the place to be," Rudolph said after commiting during the second quarter. "I prayed on it, did my homework on it, and that's where I wanted to be."

FSU became a factor in Rudolph's recruitment in August when he took an unofficial visit to Tallahassee shortly before the season. Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston's season didn't hurt the ACC champions, either.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher may lose Rashad Greene and Kelvin Benjamin to the NFL this off-season, so the possibility of immediate playing time helped with Rudolph's choice. Currently, the 'Noles have two other wide receiver commits in JoJo Robinson and C.J. Worton, but Rudolph is the headliner with his big-play ability.

Rudolph's decision will alleviate the aforementioned attrition on the FSU perimeter next fall. He has the skill set to catch 25-35 passes as a freshman because of his route running and ability to quickly pick up the offense.

The four-star flanker gives FSU another game-changing weapon in the class along with Cook and quarterback commit Treon Harris as Fisher prepares for the future without Winston.

Fisher's Under Armour haul is especially impressive as Cook and Rudolph hail from the tri-county area of Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach. The Seminoles are proving they can go down into Miami Hurricanes territory to recruit the fertile ground for the region's top prospects.
