Rebels dip back into Florida, land Woods
Zedrick Woods he would love Ole Miss.Laremy Tunsil told
Woods just needed to see it for himself.
On Friday, a little more than a month after Woods' visit to Ole Miss, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound linebacker from Lake City (Columbia), Fla., committed to the Rebels.
Tunsil's former high school teammate chose Ole Miss over East Carolina, Iowa State and Central Florda.
"What really stood out was the facilities and the relationship I built with the coaches at Ole Miss," Woods said. "It felt like home. (Tunsil) told me it's a good program and that if you work hard, you play. He told me it's fun, too."
Woods visited Ole Miss on June 6 and worked at the Rebels' camp. After his performance in front of the Rebels' coaches, he picked up an offer. Ole Miss, Woods said, projects him as a husky (strong safety) at the college level.
"I can play in the box and I can cover," Woods said. "They said they knew I could hit. They wanted to see if I could cover."
Woods committed Friday after talking to Ole Miss defensive line coach Chris Kiffin and head coach Hugh Freeze.
"They were excited," Woods said. "This is it for me. Other schools will come but it's not going to change my mind."
Woods said Columbia begins fall camp Aug. 4 in preparation for its opener against West Orange later in the month.
"My strength (going into his senior season) is run-stopping and hitting," Woods said. "I just need to work on my hips."
