Columbus lineman ready for his shot

An unheralded offensive lineman for the class of 2004 is center Joey Bragg from Columbus High in Columbus (Miss.). Last year, after a solid season on the field, Bragg quickly developed as a football player. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Region team.
“My coaches said I improved every game,” he said.

This summer, in hopes of improving his game even further, Bragg camped at the Auburn Nike Camp, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. According to Bragg, he enjoyed all four camps, but the Alabama camp was his favorite.
“It was just a great camp,” said Bragg.
Bragg, at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, is being recruited mainly as a center, but some schools are looking at him as a tackle.
“I like center better because that’s where I’ve always played,” he said.
Bragg currently lists Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State as the three schools he is currently considering. He has no one favorite, but does like three of those schools more than the other one.
“Right now I like Alabama, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss”, said Bragg. “They’re all really open with me,” Bragg said, “The atmosphere at all of those places is really good.”
With no offers at this point, a solid senior campaign for Bragg and his Columbus teammates could go a long way in improving his recruiting status.
“We should be pretty good,” he said. “We had a lot of injuries last year that hurt us, but we should be better this year.”
