Florida QB completes whirlwind tour

West Palm Beach (FL) King's Academy pro-style quarterback Mike Miller recently completed a 3,000 mile journey that saw him visit four schools.
Miller, 6-foot-2, 187 pounds with a recently timed 4.72 40-yard, and his father rented a car and left West Palm Beach two weeks ago for stops at Wake Forest, Louisville, Auburn, and Georgia Tech.

He had previously visited Ole Miss on junior day and also had visited Central Florida.
"I've talked to coach (Chris) Vaughn recently and I plan on being up for Ole Miss' spring game," Miller said on Sunday evening. "I have a stand-by (airline) ticket and hope I can get on a flight. If that works out, I'll definitely be there."
In addition to calling Vaughn, Miller said he's sent some text updates to Rebel offensive coordinator Kent Austin.
"I'm looking forward to seeing all of them – coach Vaughn, coach Austin, and coach (Houston) Nutt," he said.
While Miller has been making the rounds, he's yet to pick up an offer and although several schools are interested, they all want to see him during the spring evaluation period and perhaps in summer camp before offering.
Meanwhile, Miller gave Wake Forest and other schools some rave reviews after visiting campuses, and in some instances, watching practices.
"At Wake Forest, I got to sit in on quarterback meetings and met the quarterbacks," he said. "After practice, I got to meet the head coach (Jim Grobe) and he seemed pretty interested. It was a really pretty campus and I may like it the most of any I've seen. It seemed like I fit in up there and it was my best visit so far."
While the Millers had planned to stop by Knoxville enroute to Louisville, they made the decision not to visit the Vols.
"I used to get ton of mail from Tennessee when the old staff was there," Miller said. "But the new staff doesn't seem very interested so I don't think that is going to work out and I'm not really considering them any longer. I think they want to sign a five-star quarterback and that's not me."
Miller arrived late at Louisville, missing the opportunity to watch a spring practice, but still was able to meet with coaches and gauge the Cardinals' interest.
"I got to speak with coach (Matt) Wells and he said I seem pretty well-rounded," Miller said. "They really had nice facilities, but the drawback is that it's so far away."
After Louisville, Miller made a stop at Auburn.
"I gave them (Auburn) my film and they said they liked it," Miller said. "The offensive coordinator said they have five quarterbacks on the roster and only four are going to be on scholarship this fall. They said that if they offer a quarterback it will be after watching him in camp and will be based on him being better than what they already have on the roster. It was great watching their practice. It was definitely an SEC practice (in terms of talent and intensity). I liked the campus and town – it was a lot like Ole Miss."
The last stop was at Georgia Tech where the city of Atlanta made an impression.
"It was really awesome with the campus and stadium being right down town," he said. "Coach (Buzz) Preston (who recruits south Florida for the Yellow Jackets) said he would be down this spring to evaluate me."
In addition to the schools he visited and Ole Miss, Miller is also receiving interest from Indiana and Bowling Green.
Miller played on a team last year that finished 9-3 and lost in the first round of the playoffs and was largely run oriented. However, he still managed to go 46 for 79 passing for approximately 700 yards and ran for another 300 yards while accounting for 11 touchdowns.
Miller's father, Michael T. Miller, is listed as an Ole Miss letterman from the 1978 class.
Miller reports a 3.4 GPA and recently took the SAT.
