Illinois QB to camp at Ole Miss

Westchester (St. Joseph's High School), Ill. pro-style quarterback Cameron Meredith plans to be at Ole Miss on Saturday for the Rebels' senior-only camp and he's hoping for an impressive enough of a showing to move higher up offensive coordinator Kent Austin's quarterback board.
"I've stayed in touch with coach Austin since my visit last spring – we talked last month, and he's telling me that he likes my film and the way I play," Meredith said on Sunday. "He's telling me I need to come down and have a good showing and maybe I'll move up on their list."

Meredith has had a busy summer attending various camps across the country, but the 6-foot-3, 175 pound prospect is yet to receive his first major offer.
"I've been real busy," he said. "I've been to about ten camps – I went to Northern Illinois, Memphis, and Ball State and I'm going to Ole Miss."
While Meredith feels he's had some good camp showings, he senses that most teams are waiting to see him in action as a senior this fall before he'll receive any offers.
Last fall, as a junior, he hit on 132 passes on 220 attends for approximately 1,250 yards and had ten touchdown passes against 12 interceptions.
Meredith isn't expecting to pick up an offer this weekend at Ole Miss, but he would like to have an impressive showing.
"I'm not feeling any pressure to get an offer," he said. "I just want to go out and impress the coaches and let them see what I got in person."
Meredith said he feels his strengths are his ability to see the field and read defenses, good decision making, and a strong arm with "pretty good" accuracy.
He said he'll trip down to Ole Miss on Friday and visit relatives in Southaven and Grenada before heading out to the Oxford campus early Saturday morning.
At the Champaign (Ill.) Nike camp earlier this month, Meredith held his own against Michigan's power trio of Robert Bolden, Devin Gardner and Joe Boisture, according to a Rivals.com report.
Meredith said on Sunday that two schools are standing out – Ole Miss and Memphis.
"I really liked it down at Memphis," he said. "The coaches really made me feel at home and I think they may be close to offering. I also really liked it at Ole Miss when I was down this spring – I really like the campus."
Meredith said he's up to 6-foot-3 and one-half and 185 pounds and has a 2.9 GPA and scored a 19 on is first ACT attempt. While that's good to meet NCAA initial academic eligibility requirements, he wants to re-take the ACT to improve his score.
