Ordway makes decision

Cameron Ordway made up his mind earlier this week.
On Friday, at a pep rally at his school, the three-star cornerback made that decision public.

Ordway, a 5-foot-11, 171-pounder from Pulaski (Giles County), Tenn., committed to Ole Miss, picking the Rebels over Tennessee, Ohio State and others. Earlier in the summer, Ordway released a top 10 that included Ole Miss, Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and Notre Dame.
"I like the cornerbacks coach (Jason Jones)," Ordway said during the spring at a Rivals Camp Series event in Hoover, Ala. "Hopefully, once I get there, he'll still be there and I can play for him and stuff.
"I think my ability to play all over the field is one of my biggest strengths," Ordway said. "I feel like what I do well is my ability to cover taller receivers and play both safety and corner. I need to work on my back pedal more and work on my coverage skills."
Ordway attends Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace's high school alma mater. He told the (Jackson, Miss.) Clarion-Ledger this summer that he views Wallace as a "role model."
Ordway's decision comes on the heels of five-star offensive tackle Drew Richmond's commitment to Ole Miss. Richmond referred to a couple of imminent commitments minutes after announcing his decision. Ordway was widely considered to be one of the prospects he was referencing. Richmond and Ordway are also friends with four-star defensive end prospect Kyle Phillips, who is giving strong consideration to Ole Miss.
"Ordway is a bigger corner in terms of height, which is almost a requirement these days to get serious interest in the SEC," Rivals.com recruiting analyst Woody Wommack said. "He had a ton of momentum back in the spring, and even though he struggled at some camps, he can still be an excellent cover man at the next level. He plays both ways for his high school team, a state championship contender, so toughness isn't a question either. If he can improve his speed and add a little more muscle to his frame, he should be a regular contributor for the Rebels."
