Rebels offer Georgia offensive lineman

Ole Miss offensive line coach Mike Markuson hasn't passed out an abundance of offers to line candidates this spring, but evidently when he sees a prospect he likes, he wastes no time.
That was the case recently when Markuson tripped to Buford, Ga. to take a look at offensive guard prospect Du'Von Millsap.

Millsap, a 6-foot-5, 295 pound offensive line prospect, said within two days of Markuson watching him at spring practice, he had an offer in hand.
"He had watched my film and liked that and then he showed up at spring practice and we talked a couple of days later," Millsap said on Tuesday. "He said I looked good and was the type of player they want on their team."
Markuson also heaped additional praise on Millsap.
"He said I stood out," Millsap said. "He said he likes my style of play – a big guy who can move and he said he really likes my flexibility."
Ole Miss joins South Carolina, who offered in March, and Oklahoma State, who have already offered.
Millsap said Oklahoma State offered recently – about the same time Ole Miss did.
In addition to the two recent offers, Millsap said Alabama is recruiting him hard and he thinks they are also close to offering.
While there are reports that Millsap says he favors South Carolina because they offered early, that wasn't the case when Millsap discussed his favorites on Tuesday.
"I'm open," he said. "I want to see who offers. I don't follow college football – just occasionally watch a big game – and I have a lot to learn about all the schools that are recruiting me."
Millsap said he knows nothing about Ole Miss – he was recently told that Eli Manning played for the Rebels – and that includes academics, facilities, past history – nothing.
"I've obviously got some research to do," he said. "But that's not just the situation with Ole Miss, it's all the schools."
Millsap said he hopes to get his first lesson about Ole Miss when he camps with the Rebels. Right now, he plans to attend the Rebels' senior camp on July 25.
One thing that does remain unsettled about Millsap is where he may end up once he gets to college.
"I really don't know where I'll end up (at guard or tackle)," he said. "Oklahoma State offered me as a tackle and Clemson is also looking at me as a tackle. I think the rest may be looking at me for guard."
Millsap already has one Buford alumnus on the team – Melvin Harris – who signed with the Rebels in Feburary 2008 – but has been sidelined for most of his career with foot injuries. Also expected to join the Rebels this summer is Tyler King – a 6-foot-2, 255 pound fullback, who attended Hargrave Military Academy in 2008 after playing for Buford in 2007. He will attend as an invited walk-on.
"I talk to Melvin occasionally," Millsap said. "He seems to really like it up at Ole Miss."
Extra Point: Ole Miss also has extended a scholarship offer today to St. Louis, Mo., offensive tackle Anthony Gatti.
