RGTV: Justin Bench delivers winning hit as Ole Miss sweeps Dirtbags

OXFORD | Ole Miss true freshman Justin Bench delivered the key hit in the Rebels' 5-3 win to sweep Long Beach State on Saturday.

After a 7-6 victory that featured a Thomas Dillard walk-off earlier in the day, the Rebels (8-2) and Dirtbags (0-10) were tied in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded and one out, Bench picked up his first career hit, a shot back up the middle to score two runs and break the tie.

Ole Miss hadn't scored since the second inning and seemed bogged down, earlier wasting a first and third situation with no outs and not adding more runs in the first inning. But the freshman, who entered with only two at-bats on the season, continued the Rebels' theme of late runs to keep Long Beach State winless.

"There's no fear with him," Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said. "The guys in the dugout believe in him, and he stepped in and did his job. He's a guy people will know."
