Vaughn focuses on future

Ole Miss fans may not be aware of LaDerrick Vaughn but he aims to change that starting this fall.
He was only rated a two-star prospect and never generated much of a fuss through his recruitment. A lot of the ranking was due in part to Vaughn playing at a smaller high school, Manassas, not known as a football powerhouse.

Vaughn also fell into the all-inclusive athlete category on the Rivals.com prospect rankings during the class of 2006.
Now that he's signed a scholarship and has started discussing specifics with the Ole Miss coaches Vaughn can start thinking about his future position.
"I'm going to play wide receiver," Vaughn said. "I have started working with running on a parachute so I can get my speed faster. I've been lifting weights to get stronger."
Vaughn's workouts have come with his older brother pushing him. He's trying to keep his hands in good shape as well. His brother is tossing him passes while wearing the parachutes.
Vaughn was playing basketball for Manassas but sprained his ankle. Vaughn has decided not to push the issue with regards to his football future. Having worked his way back to full strength, Vaughn is now just practicing with the team but not playing games.
"The coach is okay with it," Vaughn said. "I need to stay in shape and that is helping."
Vaughn has also been taking care of some housekeeping issues as well.
"I talked to coach Freeze, I was just calling to make sure all my papers were good and that my stuff was correct. I wanted to make sure I could come and play," Vaughn said. "I haven't seen the playbook yet, Coach Freeze said they are getting it together with the new coordinator and they would send it out to me."
