3-star TE to accompany 5-star RB to Ole Miss

When five-star running back Michael Dyer visits Ole Miss on Saturday, he'll have a companion - three star tight end Dakota Mosley - his teammate from Little Rock (Little Rock Christian High School).

Dyer told RebelSports.net earlier this week that he'll make his first-ever visit to Ole Miss this weekend and that he is being recruited personally by Rebel head coach Houston Nutt, who has encouraged him to check out the Oxford campus.

However, it won't be Mosley's first visit. He attended the Rebels first junior day in late February and recently stopped by to visit with coaches.

"I liked it a lot when I was up for junior day," Mosley said. "I didn't make it for the senior camp (held on July 25), but we (Mosley and his parents) stopped by Ole Miss on our way to Florida for vacation that week and visited with the coaches."

Mosley, a 6-foot-4, 252 pound prospect, is being recruited by Rebel tight end's coach James Shibest, who recruits Arkansas for Ole Miss, and has already landed a verbal commitment from the Diamond state's Brishen Mathews, the No. 5 player in-state as ranked by Rivals.com.

"I really like the coaches at Ole Miss," Mosley said. "They are saying that they really like my body build and that they are considering making an offer."

Mosley already has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, Tulsa and Southern Illinois.

Mosley has likely benefitted in the recruiting process from being very close friends with Dyer and the pair will take the trip from Little Rock to Oxford along with Mosley's father on Saturday.

"We just want to go together and check things out," Mosley said. "I'm hearing they are going to have a scrimmage Saturday and we want to watch that and check out the campus."

Mosley said he and Dyer have often talked about attending the same school and while they would like for that to happen, both have the reality that they might have to go their separate ways.

Whether Mosley receives an offer from Ole Miss may depend largely on whether the staff decides to sign a tight end for the 2010 signing class. The Rebels had offered four-star Travis Dickson, who recently committed to LSU, and would have taken the in-state prospect, but with a reduction in scholarships due to the APR penalty, signing a tight end might be a luxury.

The Rebels have two redshirt freshmen tight ends and a true freshman, and how they progress could impact any decision. The team loses senior Gerald Harris after this season and one of the tight ends could see a position change, making the addition of a tight end a priority.

Mosley had 36 catches last fall as a junior, good for over 400 yards and five scores and recorded 60 tackles on defense. He ran a 4.82 40-yard dash at the US Army Combine in San Antonio last January but said he ran a 4.7 forty at Auburn's camp earlier this summer.

He is rated the No. 12 prospect in Arkansas by Rivals.com and has received a three-star rating.
