Cordarrian Richardson understands Ole Miss' depth chart.

The Rebels only have four scholarship running backs on the roster for 2017, and two of those -- Eric Swinney and Jordan Wilkins -- combined for one total snap this past season.

Ole Miss emphasized the need for a back who can contribute immediately during the four-star running back's official visit this weekend, and the pitch played a large factor in the Rebels becoming his leader.

"It plays a good role, and Ole Miss has a 90 percent chance (of being the school of choice)," Richardson said on Sunday morning. "(Running backs) coach (Derrick) Nix and I have a good relationship. He told me I was coming in at a good time and wants to go into every season with five running backs, so it’s a perfect time."

The former Clemson commit opened up his recruitment in December and will visit Oregon on January 27. The 5-foot-11, 222-pounder recently visited UCF and has the Knights in contention, as well.

"I want to take all my visits," Richardson said. "I ain’t going to lie to you. I’ve been tired of the recruiting process, but I had to do it.

"Growing up Oregon had been my dream school and I finally got an offer. I want to see how it looks. UCF coaches are cool and all the same. It’s a new staff that brings a positive energy."

None of the three head coaches from his final schools have visited him at home to this point. However, he did meet with Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze on Saturday. Ole Miss is emphasizing more of a run game under new offensive coordinator Phil Longo.

"We just talked about how the offensive scheme is and the running back situation," Richardson said. "They told me they will use the running backs a lot more than they have."
