Four-star wide receiver A.J. Brown signed with Ole Miss Wednesday, choosing the Rebels over Alabama, California, Mississippi State and others.
Brown made his announcement at Starkville High School, just minutes away from the Mississippi State campus.
"The recruiting process has its ups and downs," Brown said. "I'm certainly blessed to be put in this situation. ...For the next three or four years, I'll be taking my talents to the University of Mississippi."
Brown is ranked No. 53 nationally by Rivals.com. He is the No. 4-ranked player in Mississippi, behind Ole Miss signee Benito Jones, Alabama signee Nigel Knott and Macon defensive end Jeffery Simmons. Brown is also the No. 9-ranked wide receiver nationally.
Brown's commitment to Ole Miss caused immediate waves in Starkville. Mississippi State, Brown said, did not make him feel as wanted as other programs did.
"I felt like other schools wanted me more," Brown told the (Jackson, Miss.) Clarion-Ledger. "I live in Starkville. I would expect MSU would be hard. Every day here.
"I was going to stay, but I felt like they didn't do a good job of recruiting. I didn't feel wanted."
