Texas defensive end Anderson talks flip from Hogs to Rebels

Ole Miss made an impression on Ryder Anderson while he was on campus last weekend.

The Katy, Texas, defensive end took an official visit for Ole Miss' season finale against Mississippi State, and the Rebels flipped Anderson, who had been committed to Arkansas since June.

Landing Ryder Anderson, a DE from Katy (Tex.) made the decision to flip while on an official visit to Oxford over the weekend.

"The family atmosphere and the love shown to me by the coaches and the players made me feel right at home," Anderson said. "Oxford just felt like home."

Anderson, a 6-foot-6, 230-pounder, also had offers from Colorado, Boise State, Tulane and others. Anderson said a meeting with head coach Hugh Freeze was the defining impression from the visit.

"Meeting with (Freeze) in his office, which was when we were able to sit down and just talk about everything," Anderson said. "At that moment, I knew I wanted to be a Rebel."

The Rebels see Anderson as a defensive end that can rush the passer and also play the run well. He recently picked up a third star.

Anderson is the Rebels 10th commit for the class of 2017, as the Rebels parted ways with East Mississippi Community College defensive player and former signee Jay Johnson around the same time.

Anderson's brother, Rodney, is a redshirt freshman running back at Oklahoma. He's suffered season-ending injuries two straight years.
