Updated contract details for Ole Miss football assistants

OXFORD | Ole Miss' two new assistant football coaches have their financial terms in place and some other assistants have increased salaries, according to contract details released to RebelGrove.com on Friday.

Charles Clark, most recently at Oregon and also previously at Duke and Colorado, among other schools, joined the Ole Miss staff as the 10th assistant coach and is focused on defensive backs, while Jon Sumrall takes over the Ole Miss linebackers room after successful stints at Troy and Tulane.

Both those coaches have two year contracts with 2018 salaries of $350,000.

Offensive coordinator Phil Longo and defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff are at the same salary numbers outlined in their original deals but each had a year added to their contracts. Longo has a two-year contract with $700,000 compensation in 2018, and McGriff is at three years and will make $1.1 million this year.

The biggest assistant salary jump is defensive line coach Freddie Roach, who has had interest from multiple teams, including Alabama, this offseason. Roach has a three-year contract with a 2018 salary of $500,000. He made $375,000 in 2017.

Jacob Peeler, who was named a Rivals.com top 25 recruiter on Friday after converting three four-star prospects into signees, has a one-year deal worth $425,000. The Mississippi native's 2017 salary was $375,000.

Offensive line coach Jack Bicknell, tight ends coach Maurice Harris and running backs coach Derrick Nix all have one year agreements worth $400,000. Those are the same salaries as last year for Harris and Nix. Bicknell was paid $150,000 from August to December.

Defensive backs coach Jason Jones will also make $400,000 in 2018 and has a two-year contract.

Head coach Matt Luke has a $3 million base salary in 2018 and gets an additional $150,000 per Power Five victory.
