Ole Miss needs linebackers. Dasher wants to play in the SEC.

What more needed to be said on the official visit this past weekend? Coffeyville C.C. LB Vernon Dasher committed to Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke on Sunday before leaving campus, but decided not to go public with his decision until the beginning of the early signing period on Wednesday.

Dasher chose Ole Miss over other offers from Kansas State, Toledo and Kansas among others, and has the chance to play at both inside or outside linebacker in Oxford.

Dasher caught up with RebelGrove.com earlier this week to discuss his commitment.

"I loved it in Oxford," said Dasher about what set Ole Miss apart. "My family loves it there just as much as I do, it's an amazing place to be, and they took really good care of us."

After a long conversation with coach Luke, Dasher told him he wanted to be a Rebel, and the mood in the room shifted immediately.

"Chilling with Luke was so unique, man. I've never had a head coach like him, he cares so much about his players and to him it's about so much more than football. He was super excited when I committed, and that feeling was mutual."

Dasher plans to get to work the moment he gets on campus in January, and sees himself possibly playing both linebacker spots, depending on how much weight he can put on.
