Cole was a dominating force for South Jones High School but makes the switch to Picayune for his senior season. Physically, Cole passes the test at 6-foot-4 245 pounds for tight end. His strength is also there at a 305 pound bench and 420 pound squat.
It’s what Cole does with his size that makes him one of the top players in the state. Cole’s propensity to pancake anything in front of him caught the eyes of many schools early in the recruiting process.
Rivals.com Southeast recruiting editor Jeff Drummond says Cole is a “Classic tight end frame with room to add weight and strength and become a special player. He thrives in blocking at this point, but has the skills to develop into a good receiving target.”
One school was LSU, who offered Cole, and was rewarded with a verbal commitment from the tight end in April. Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss were in on Cole early in the process to no avail. It doesn’t look like Cole is wavering at all with his commitment. Two months after his commitment Cole still has high praise for the Tigers.
“Oh, I’m definitely solid with LSU,” Cole said on June 18. “I was in Baton Rouge for their camp last week and had a great time.”
Cole could play another position in college too. The offenses he has spent his high school career in are primarily run offenses. Through all the blocking Cole picked up a keen ability on the defensive line. He shows as much ability to run over opposing players on the defensive line as he does on the defensive line. As a defensive end his junior year Cole registered 68 tackles and four sacks.
